Strad Mark Haswell

Mark Haswell is one of our leading specialists at Stradbrook Dental & Implant Clinic. Mark Haswell qualified at Kings in 1987 and has worked at Stradbrook since 1990, becoming a partner in 1993. He is described by his nurse as an “implant anorak” and has been carrying out implant based treatment since 1991, being one of the first UK dentists to undertake an MSc in Implant Dentistry.

He now lectures regularly on all aspects of Implant based treatment. Mark enjoys golf and is a bit of a fitness fanatic, enjoying cycling and running around the Lake District for charity. Mark is married to Sarah and has two children and a border terrier.

Dr Carl Manhem

Carl Manhem qualified from Dental College, University of Gothenburg, Sweden in 1983. He completed his specialisation in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 1994 at University of Linköping, Sweden.

Carl worked in two University Hospitals in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Stockholm, Sweden and Aarhus, Denmark as Assistant Professor for five years. During this period, he also worked at several Implant Clinics and a Private Hospital as a Consultant with implant treatment of patients with all kinds of complex cases. In 1998 he moved to London, England, and worked at the Eastman Dental Institute, University College London. First as a full-time Clinical lecturer at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Implantology until 2002 and from 2002 as a part-time Clinical lecturer at Eastman Dental Institute – continuing Professional Development, University College London to 2018. Carl joined the Stradbrook Dental & Implant Clinic in 2007.

Together with Dr Mark Haswell, Carl Founded AIMH for Continuing Education of Advanced Implantology 2013. His main clinical interests are Implantology, in which he has 30 years of experience, Reconstructive Surgery and Orthognathic Surgery and teaching in the above mentioned areas. Since October 2000, he has run Implantology courses at EDI - CPD, University College London and also lectures nationally and internationally.

Carl is married to Kylie and has five children. He enjoys downhill skiing, golf and going to the gym.

Strad Diarmuid Buckley

Di holds a Master of Science in Implant dentistry from Warwick University, which was awarded with Distinction. Whilst at Warwick he was awarded the Implantology Prize for Best Implant Student 2011 and the prestigious Philips award for Best Overall Postgraduate Dental Masters Student. His research won a world 1st prize at the International association of Dental Research (IADR 2012 Brazil).

He is an honorary Clinical teaching fellow at Warwick University Medical School. He has contributed to articles on implants and implant training in the dental press, and has assisted implant companies in training local GDP’s. He regularly attends scientific seminars and courses in the field of Implantology. He has been trained in the use of Endoret™ PRGF (which enhances the natural healing process) at the famous BTI institute in Spain, and his major interests aside from general and family dentistry are Implantology, advances in the science of healing promotion and regeneration, and dental education.

He has three daughters and a border terrier. He loves dogs and spending time in the country side.

Strad Rene Roets

René Roets

René Roets qualified at Witwatersrand in South Africa and moved to the UK in 1997. René joined Stradbrook in 1997 as a specialist prosthodontist, from his practice in Cape Town, South Africa. He enjoys sculpting, exploring foreign countries, good food, and has a passion for wildlife. A privileged career has included training undergraduate and postgraduate students in prosthodontics. During his appointment as a senior lecturer at university, he was involved in the running of clinics for temporo-mandibular disorders, maxillo-facial prosthetics and Implantology. His philosophy is that patients should be treated holistically rather than symptomatically. René is married to Madelyn and has two sons and a Lakeland terrier.

Efstathios Kousounis

Efstathios received his Diploma of Dental Surgery in 2009 from University of Athens, Greece. He worked in General Practice in Greece before he moved to the UK in 2010. From 2010 until September 2012 he worked as a general Dentist in a mixed NHS and private practices in the Norfolk region. In 2012 he was accepted and enrolled in the three year, full time speciality-training program in Periodontology (Gums) at the renowned Eastman Dental Institue (Univesity College London). In 2015, he obtained his MClinDent in Periodontology and in the same year he was awarded a Certificate in Periodontology accredited by the European Federation of Periodontology. The Eastman MClinDent (Perio) program is one of 13 European Periodontology programs, and the only one in the UK which is accredited but the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP).

Efstathios is also involved in research. He has an active research portfolio and is currently Clinical Research Fellow at the Centre of Clinical Oral Research at the Institute of Dentisty (Queen Mary University of London) participating in clinical trials focusing on the treatment of peri-implant and periodontal diseases. He is currently working closely with our dental team to provide periodontal treatment for our patients and those referred from other practices.  He has a wide experience in Periodontal treatment, including non-surgical and surgical treatment of Periodontal diseases including conventional and regenerative periodontal surgery, periodontal plastic/aesthetic surgery, alveolar bone augmentation procedures and Dental Implants.

Matthew Bullock

Matthew graduated from the University of Manchester in 2010 and went on to complete his oral surgery dental Core Training in 2014. Having previously worked as a speciality doctor in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Morecambe Bay Hospital Trust he went on to teach at Kings College London and now currently performs minor oral surgery across Kent, Surrey and Sussex as well as central London.

He is an experienced practitioner in conscious sedation (relaxation techniques using pharmacology) and is an IACSD accredited mentor on the Manchester Sedation Course

Throughout his career he has developed skills and experience in a wide range of Minor oral surgery procedures, comprising adult and paediatric local anaesthetic, sedation and General anaesthetic. He also has gained valuable experience in dental/facial trauma and in the medical management of patients.  Most recently he started his Diploma in Implant dentistry.

Matthew has a passion for surgery and in teaching, but above all a passion for optimum patient care. Outside Dentistry, he loves fitness and spending time with his friends and family.

Benjamin Palin

Ben qualified at the University of Sheffield in 2001 and has been working at Stradbrook since 2008.

He is experienced in all aspects of general dentistry (fillings, root canal, crowns, bridges, whitening, veneers, preventative therapy, extractions). Ben is an Invisalign full provider and enjoys providing his patients with healthy teeth and happy smiles via the highest standard of care. He is currently studying a Masters in Periodontology and provides consultations and treatment for periodontology (gum disease).

Ben is a firm believer in lifelong learning and continues to develop his knowledge and skills for the benefit of his patients.

He is married with three children and enjoys cycling and swimming in any spare time he gets.


Sinitta Datta

Originally from the South-West, Sinitta Graduated from Cardiff Dental school in 2011 and since has had an array of experiences within dentistry. She worked in the Royal London hospital Oral and Maxillofacial unit as a Senior House Officer gaining experience in Oral Surgery and working with medically compromised patients. During this time she passed her postgraduate MFDS examination and published an article within the British Journal of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.

Since she has been working within general practice providing general dentistry but she thoroughly enjoys Aesthetic and Cosmetic work and improving smiles. Sinitta is an Invisalign Full provider and has qualifications in providing ‘Six Month Smiles’ which both provide aesthetic alternatives to traditional orthodontic systems.

Her interest lies with oral surgery which she has taken further and completed an Advanced Implantology Course based in Bristol. She is currently in the process of completing her Master’s degree in Clinical Implantology in the University of Central Lancashire. She is a member of the International team for Implantology.
